Get Ready...GO!

Today is the day before my husband and I begin our 21-day fast/detox toward improved health and healing. We are using the Martha Vineyard 21 Pounds in 21 Days by Roni DeLuz as a guide.

I originally heard of this book on the radio about a year ago but was hesitant about doing the program alone. After suffering from possible congestive heart failure and high blood pressure, my husband decided he didn't want to live the rest of his life on multiple meds and just not feeling well.

Our church announced that the members were going to commit to a corporate 21-day fast to overcome sinful habits and strongholds in our lives and to draw closer to God. This seemed like the optimal time to try the program and my husband agreed.

I've spent about $150 on veggies, food supplements, and spices. I also bought a blender. (My 3 daughters are going to also practice better nutritional habits over these 3 weeks and want to make fruit smoothies for on-the-go breakfasts since they don't eat in the morning as often as they should).

I spent the evening preparing the veggies for a friend to juice for us until we get our own juicer. (We want to get a good one in a couple of weeks). I also made two soups -- 1 squash/carrot puree and a mixed veggie broth.

My husband says he has no concerns about such a drastic change in our eating for the next 3 weeks. I, on the other hand, am a little hesitant about how hungry I'll be.

My husband is most excited about the possible weight loss. The program suggests you could lose around 21 pounds by the end. I am looking forward to having more energy and clearer skin. I laos get excited about the ideal of my whole family seeing changes together.

During this time, we plan on feeding our minds spiritually as well. We will be focusing on doing more family and couple devotions. We will also guard what we allow in our eye and eargates by monitoring, even more, what we watch and listen to.

I will keep you up-to-date on our progress.
